Stan and Dan Banana quietly climbed out of bed. They tiptoed to opposite sides of the train car, and each began to practice a new trick—alone.

“Oh, this is good,” Stan Banana whispered as he flung himself backward in a perfect double backflip. “When Polly Pumpkinseed sees this trick, I’m sure she’ll give me the trophy.”

Meanwhile, on the other side of the train car, Dan Banana was practicing a flying double front flip. “Hee-hee,” he said to himself as he pitched himself forward and turned two complete revolutions. “How can I lose with this trick? I can almost smell my trophy now.”

Bert had followed the Banana brothers and was standing in the middle, watching them practice.
